Cheshunt is really several towns, and the survey changes with each one
Cheshunt grew out of a chain of separate villages that joined up during the twentieth century, and the Broxbourne Local Plan describes exactly that: rapid expansion in the later decades of the century, spreading westwards over the A10 into Bury Green, Rosedale, Flamstead End and along Hammondstreet. Why does that matter for air conditioning? Because the survey is completely different in each of those places. A 1950s estate semi in Flamstead End with a cavity wall and a plain rear elevation is a straightforward day’s work. A timber framed or Victorian yellow stock brick property in Churchgate needs the pipe route, the fixings and the outdoor unit position thought through far more carefully. Churchgate, Wormley and the heritage question
Broxbourne Borough Council has six conservation areas, and two of them sit on our Cheshunt pages: Churchgate and Wormley. Churchgate was designated in 1968, which makes it one of the earliest conservation areas in Britain, and it contains 23 listed buildings, including the Grade I parish church of St Mary the Virgin, Dewhurst School of 1640 and the Green Dragon pub.

What the installation actually involves
A single split in a straightforward Cheshunt property is a day for two engineers. A multi-split across three or four rooms is two to three days.
We agree the indoor and outdoor positions first, then core drill the pipe route. Refrigerant pipework, control cabling and the condensate drain travel together, so the route is the part worth planning hardest. The outdoor unit goes on wall brackets or a ground frame with anti-vibration mounts. The system is pressure tested with nitrogen, evacuated under vacuum to remove moisture, charged, commissioned, and you get a proper handover on the controls. Condensate is where cheap installs fail. An indoor unit in cooling mode produces water, and it must run with a continuous fall to a suitable drain, or through a condensate pump where gravity cannot do it. One local point worth making: hard water is not the enemy here that it is on our boiler and cylinder work.
