NORTH LONDON, HERTFORDSHIRE & BEDFORDSHIRE
Air conditioning installation in Harrow, Stanmore and Pinner by our own F-Gas engineers. Outdoor units sited to satisfy the council’s design guide and noise rules, and systems that heat as well as cool. Most homes pay 0% VAT until 31 March 2027. Call 01462 506 374.

Less than most people expect. A typical wall unit costs about 11p an hour to cool one room and about 17p an hour to heat it. Put in your own electricity rate and see what it would cost you.
AIR CONDITIONING INSTALLATION IN HARROW
The indoor unit is the easy part. The question in Harrow is the outdoor unit. The council’s Residential Design Guide says ventilation units and other services that appear as “add-on” elements will not be accepted, and where a planning application is made for air conditioning, Harrow asks for a noise report carried out to BS4142 for the hours the unit will run.
On the national rules: the permitted development rights for heat pumps exclude units used solely for cooling. Every system we fit heats as well as cools, but conservation areas and listed buildings narrow those rights, and flats generally need permission. So before we quote, we check your address, choose a position at the side or rear where the unit sits low and quiet, and include any application in the price.
The three parts of the borough where the siting of an outdoor unit gets the closest look.
Air conditioning in Stanmore
Stanmore Hill has been a conservation area since 1975, and its Article 4 direction covers alterations to houses. The Canons Park Estate, built between 1926 and 1935 and mostly Tudor Revival, is Article 4 too, as are Little Common, Old Church Lane and Kerry Avenue. Here the outdoor unit goes to the rear, on the ground or low on the back wall, screened from view, with pipework run neatly inside trunking.
Air conditioning in Pinner
Pinner’s High Street appraisal wants air conditioning units “as concealed and unobtrusive as possible”. Its Article 4 directions, in force since 1995, cover roofs and elevations, and Pinner Hill, Pinnerwood Park, East End Farm and West Towers carry their own. Outside those areas, the 1920s and 1930s garden estates often have a side passage or rear wall that suits a unit well.
Harrow on the Hill. In the Village conservation area, designated in 1968, the Article 4 direction covers any façade fronting a road or open space, and 43 buildings are grade II listed. A listed building has no permitted development rights for an outdoor unit, so listed building consent comes into it. We tell you at survey whether yours is one.
A single room in a Harrow semi outside a conservation area can usually be priced online in a few minutes. Stanmore Hill, Pinner, Harrow on the Hill, flats and multi room systems are better surveyed first.
Tell us the room, its size and where the outdoor unit might go, choose the unit, and see a fixed figure.
Conservation areas, listed buildings, flats and several rooms at once. We check the wall, the noise and the council’s position, then fix the price.
The side passage. Out of sight from the road, close to the rooms it serves, with space for air to move around the fan.
The rear wall at ground level. Low, quiet and easy to service, on anti vibration mounts so nothing carries through the brickwork to next door.
The flat roof of a rear extension. Useful when the room to cool is at the back, set well in from the edge.
Not the front bay. Harrow’s design guidance is clear about “add-on” services, and the front of a Metroland semi is what the street sees.
The rooms that usually need it. Loft conversions under a new roof, glazed rear extensions, south facing bedrooms and the home office that became permanent. If shading or better ventilation would solve the problem, we say so at survey.
Our online quote prices a single room from £2,420, two rooms from £4,310 and three rooms from £6,150, fitted, with most homes paying 0% VAT until 31 March 2027. In Harrow the additions we see are a BS4142 noise report and planning application where the address calls for one, a longer pipe run to reach the rear, or a bay suspension on a controlled street. The survey prices each one and fixes the total, with the VAT rate written on the quote.
Because Harrow asks about noise, we start from the sound rating. We fit Fujitsu and Panasonic wall mounted and multi split systems, mount outdoor units on anti vibration feet and keep them away from the neighbours’ windows. Pipework runs inside trunking painted or chosen to suit the wall.
Handling refrigerant legally needs F-Gas certified engineers and a registered company. Ours are, under REFCOM REF1024550. Every system is pressure tested, evacuated and commissioned to the manufacturer’s procedure, which is what keeps the warranty in force.

It depends on the house and the street. The national permitted development rules for heat pumps exclude units used solely for cooling. The systems we fit heat as well as cool, which helps, but those rules still do not reach a listed building and are tighter in a conservation area, and a flat generally needs permission. Where an application is made, Harrow asks for a noise report to BS4142. We check the council’s position for your address before we quote.
Usually, with care over where the outdoor unit goes. Stanmore Hill, Little Common, Old Church Lane, Kerry Avenue and the Canons Park Estate all have Article 4 directions, so a unit on the front is unlikely to be accepted. A rear wall or a rear garden position, kept low and screened, is the normal answer, with an application where one is required.
The Pinner High Street appraisal says air conditioning units should be “carefully sited and integrated so they are as concealed and unobtrusive as possible”. We apply the same thinking in the other Pinner Article 4 areas, including Pinner Hill, Pinnerwood Park, East End Farm and West Towers.
From £2,420 for one room, £4,310 for two and £6,150 for three, fitted, with most homes paying 0% VAT until 31 March 2027. A noise report, a planning application or a long pipe run is priced as its own line after the survey, and the total is then fixed.
HMRC Notice 708/6 lists air source heat pumps installed in homes as energy saving materials, and an air to air system qualifies. It is zero rated until 31 March 2027 and due to move to 5% after that. Business premises pay 20%. The rate that applies is written on your quote.
Yes. Everything we install is an air to air heat pump, so a loft bedroom or a garden office can use it for heating from autumn to spring as well as cooling in summer.
Our own F-Gas certified engineers, working for a company registered with REFCOM under REF1024550, as the law requires for anyone working on refrigerant. You get 12 months on our workmanship and the manufacturer’s warranty on the equipment.
Call 01462 506 374 or send the details. We size the system, find a position for the outdoor unit that the council will accept, arrange any noise report, and send a fixed price that shows the VAT rate clearly.
