HERTFORDSHIRE, BEDFORDSHIRE & CAMBRIDGESHIRE
Wall mounted and multi-split air conditioning in Milton Keynes, installed by F-Gas certified engineers. Cools in summer, heats in winter, and 0% VAT applies on most residential installations.

Less than most people expect. A typical wall unit costs about 11p an hour to cool one room and about 17p an hour to heat it. Put in your own electricity rate and see what it would cost you.
Air conditioning in Milton Keynes, installed by F-Gas registered engineers, with 0% VAT on residential supply and installation under HMRC VAT Notice 708/6 until 31 March 2027. Bedrooms that will not cool at night, loft rooms and home offices that are unusable by two in the afternoon, and glazed extensions that turn into greenhouses. One unit or a whole house system, with a fixed price in writing before we start. Call 01462 506 374 or send us a photograph of the room and the outside wall.
Milton Keynes is a young city. It was designated on 23 January 1967, and most of its housing has gone up since, which means a large share of the homes here were built to modern insulation standards with big windows, open plan ground floors and, in the last twenty years, glazed rear extensions and roof lights as standard. That is a house that holds heat beautifully in January and cannot get rid of it in July. A well insulated 1990s house in Furzton or Emerson Valley, with a south facing garden and a conservatory bolted on, will sit several degrees above the outside temperature by evening and stay there all night.
Then there are the loft conversions and the home offices. Milton Keynes was designed around the grid and the commute, and a lot of its residents now work from a room at the top of the house that was never designed to be occupied for eight hours in August. A single wall mounted unit in that one room is the most common job we do here, and it changes how the whole house is used.

Wall mounted split systems. One indoor unit, one outdoor unit, a pipe run between them. The right answer for a single bedroom, a loft room, a home office or a living room. Installed in a day.
Multi split systems. One outdoor unit feeding two, three or four indoor units in different rooms. Fewer boxes on the outside wall, and each room controlled separately.
Ducted and concealed systems. For a whole floor from a single concealed unit, usually in a loft, with grilles rather than wall units. Suits the larger detached houses in Shenley Church End, Loughton, Woughton Park and Woburn Sands where a wall unit in every room is not the look you want.
Air to air heat pumps. Every unit we fit is a heat pump. It cools in summer and it heats in winter, and in the shoulder months it is often cheaper to run than the gas boiler for the one room you are using. Ask us about winter heating when we quote, because a lot of people do not realise they are buying it.
Most air conditioning installations in Milton Keynes are permitted development, provided the outdoor unit meets the size and position limits and it is the only one on the property. The grid squares, with their generous gardens and detached and semi detached houses, usually give us a rear or side wall at ground level with no difficulty.
Where it gets more careful is inside the conservation areas. Milton Keynes City Council lists twenty seven, and the ones inside or beside the city are Stony Stratford, Wolverton, Great Linford, Newport Pagnell, Willen, Old Bradwell, Broughton, Milton Keynes Village, Loughton, Woughton on the Green, Shenley Church End, Woburn Sands, Bletchley and Calverton. In a conservation area an outdoor unit on a wall facing a highway generally needs consent, and on a listed building, of which Stony Stratford alone has over 140, any external unit needs consent. We survey the elevation before we quote so the price you get reflects where the unit can actually go, not where it would be cheapest to put it.
The flats around Central Milton Keynes and Campbell Park are a different question again. The outside wall belongs to the freeholder, and the lease usually says what can be fixed to it. A balcony installation is possible with the freeholder’s or managing agent’s written consent, and we will tell you what to ask them for before you commit to anything.
A modern outdoor unit is quiet, but quiet is relative when it is under somebody else’s bedroom window. In the detached and semi detached squares that is rarely a problem. In the long terraces at Netherfield, where single storey homes at the top of the slope step down to three storeys at the bottom, and in the tight courts of the 1970s estates, the neighbour’s window can be closer than your own, and the permitted development rules take account of that. We site the unit for the neighbour as well as for you, on anti vibration mounts, away from bedrooms where the layout allows, and we tell you at survey if the only workable position needs a conversation next door before we drill.
Every indoor unit produces water when it cools, and that water has to go somewhere. On a ground floor unit it runs by gravity to outside. On a loft or first floor unit it usually needs a small condensate pump, and the route for that pipe decides half the installation. We plan it before we drill, because a condensate pipe that was an afterthought is the one that drips through the ceiling in August.
Pipe runs are kept short, insulated properly and boxed neatly outside. The refrigerant is handled by F-Gas registered engineers, which is a legal requirement, and every installation is pressure tested and vacuumed before it is charged. Ask anyone quoting you for air conditioning in Milton Keynes to confirm their F-Gas position before you compare prices.
Air to air heat pumps installed in a residential property qualify as an energy saving material under HMRC VAT Notice 708/6, which means supply and installation are charged at 0% VAT until 31 March 2027. That takes a fifth off the price compared with standard rated work, and it applies to houses and flats alike. It does not apply to commercial premises. Your quote from us states the VAT position in writing so there is no surprise on the invoice.
Survey, supply, installation and commissioning by our own engineers, with the trunking run properly.
We do not publish a fixed price for air conditioning, because the honest range is wide and depends on the number of rooms, the length of the pipe run, the outdoor unit position and whether scaffolding or access equipment is needed for a loft room. What you get from us is a fixed price agreed in writing before we start, with the 0% VAT position stated clearly on it, and no figure that changes once an engineer is in the loft. A single split in the loft bedroom or the home office solves the problem that actually stops you sleeping or working, for a fraction of the cost of a whole house system, and we will tell you that rather than sell you the bigger job.
An air conditioning unit wants a clean and a check once a year: filters, condensate line, refrigerant pressure, and the outdoor unit cleared of the leaves and debris that Milton Keynes’ 22 million trees and shrubs are generous with. A unit that is serviced runs quieter, costs less to run and lasts a great deal longer. We service what we fit and what other people fitted.
If the loft room is hot because the whole heating system is unbalanced, that is a different problem, and power flushing in Milton Keynes explains it. For everything else on the water side of the house, see plumbers in Milton Keynes.

Yes, for residential supply and installation of an air to air heat pump, under HMRC VAT Notice 708/6, until 31 March 2027. Commercial premises pay the standard rate.
Usually not. Most installations are permitted development if the outdoor unit meets the size and position limits. In a conservation area such as Stony Stratford or Wolverton, or on a listed building, consent is often needed and we tell you before you commit.
Often, with the freeholder’s or managing agent’s written consent for the outdoor unit. We tell you what to ask for.
A single split in one room is a day. A multi split across three rooms is usually two days.
Yes. Every unit we fit is an air to air heat pump, and in a loft room or a home office it is often the cheapest way to heat that one space.
The one that stops you sleeping or working. Almost always the loft bedroom or the home office. One unit there does more for the house than a partial system everywhere.
It depends on the number of rooms and where the outdoor unit can go, so we price every installation after a free survey and give you a fixed written quote. A single-room split system is the starting point; a multi-split serves several rooms from one outdoor unit. We install Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, LG and Samsung and there is no call-out fee in working hours.
Yes. The split systems we install are air-to-air heat pumps, so the same unit heats in winter and cools in summer. In heating mode a modern unit delivers around three to four units of heat for every unit of electricity, which makes it one of the cheapest ways to heat a single room, home office or extension.
Usually not. In England a domestic outdoor unit under 1.5 cubic metres (0.6 for a flat), not on a pitched roof and not on a front wall facing the road, falls within permitted development following the 2025 rule change. Listed buildings and conservation areas are the exceptions, and leaseholders need the freeholder’s consent. We tell you at the survey if your property is one of the exceptions.
Less than most people expect. A typical single-room unit draws around 0.5 to 1 kW while running, so an evening of cooling costs a few tens of pence at current tariffs, and in heating mode it is usually cheaper per unit of heat than a plug-in electric heater. Keeping the filters clean and having the system serviced keeps it at that level.
Yes. Vantage is F-Gas certified through Refcom, registration REF1024550, which is a legal requirement for anyone installing or working on air conditioning refrigerant circuits. Every installation is commissioned, leak-tested and comes with a 12 month labour guarantee on top of the manufacturer warranty.
