Kings Langley is a village of larger homes. Affinity Water, and it is very hard
One sample in 2025, but a high one. In a bathroom, water that hard leaves a white crust on shower heads and glass, and wears out thermostatic cartridges sooner than soft water would. We fit valves with cartridges you can replace on their own, suggest an easy clean coating for glass, and talk about a softener on the incoming main when more than one room is being refitted.

Conservation areas, listed houses and the outside wall
Most of a refit happens indoors. The exception is the outside wall: a new soil pipe, waste outlet or extractor vent. In the Kings Langley conservation area, which takes in parts of the High Street, the old Palace and Priory area and the Common, we keep those to the rear wherever the drainage allows, and ask Dacorum first where there is doubt.
Listed houses need more care. Dacorum’s advice on listed buildings is “Minimum intervention”, conserving as much of the existing fabric as possible, with a conversation with its conservation officer before plans are settled.
