E.04.10 on a newer Baxi means the burner failed to ignite after four attempts, so the boiler has locked out.

This is the modern Baxi equivalent of a classic ignition lockout, and there are genuinely useful checks you can do first.

What E.04.10 actually means

The boiler tries to light a set number of times. If it cannot prove a flame after four attempts, it stops rather than keep releasing gas into the combustion chamber.

That lockout is the appliance behaving correctly.

What you can safely check yourself

Is the gas on? Try another gas appliance. If nothing has gas, the problem is the supply or the meter. Check credit if you are on a prepayment meter.

Is the condensate frozen? The usual cold weather cause. Warm, not boiling, water poured along the outside of the pipe often clears it.

Is the flue terminal blocked? Look outside for obstruction.

If one of those was it, reset once.

What causes it beyond the simple checks

Beyond the three above: a worn or dirty ignition and flame sensing electrode, a failed spark generator or lead, low gas supply pressure at the appliance, a gas valve not opening correctly, or a PCB fault.
