Baxi E09 Fault Code: Gas Valve Connection Fault

E09 on a Baxi is a gas valve connection fault. The boiler cannot properly communicate with or control the gas valve.
Anything with the gas valve in the description is engineer work. Do not reset and carry on with this one.
What E09 actually means
The gas valve is what lets gas to the burner, and the control board drives it electrically. If that connection is not right, the board cannot be certain the valve is doing what it has been told.
Because the consequence of a gas valve behaving unexpectedly is serious, the boiler locks out.
What you can safely check yourself
Do not keep resetting a gas valve fault.
Nothing. Turn the boiler off at the switch and call a Gas Safe engineer.

What causes it beyond the simple checks
A loose, corroded or damaged connector at the gas valve, damaged wiring between the valve and the board, a failed valve coil, or a board output fault. The wiring and connector get checked first because they are the common finding and far cheaper than a valve.
