Worcester Bosch Fd Fault Code: Reset Pressed by Mistake

Fd on a Worcester Bosch means the reset button has been pressed when there was no fault to reset.
This is the least alarming code on the list. Most of the time it clears in seconds and there is nothing wrong with the boiler at all.
What Fd actually means
The appliance has registered a reset instruction it was not expecting. Someone has leant on the button, a child has pressed it, or it has been held down while cleaning around the boiler.
It is a lockout in the sense that the boiler stops, but the cause is the button rather than the appliance.
What you can safely check yourself
Press and hold the reset button for three seconds, then release it. The boiler should restart normally.
That is genuinely all it usually takes.
When to stop, and why
If Fd keeps returning on its own, without anybody touching the boiler, stop resetting it and call an engineer. At that point it is not the button.
What causes it beyond the simple checks
If it recurs without anyone pressing anything, the service booklet points at the PCB. A sticking or failed reset button, or a board misreading the input, will produce a repeating Fd.
