Flats bring their own list: flue termination over shared walkways, gas carcassing through communal space, ventilation requirements, and a freeholder or managing agent who needs to know what is happening before we lift a spanner. None of it is difficult, but it is all time, and a quote that ignores it is not a real quote.
The Rialto estate of the early 1980s and the second Wimpey estate of the late 1980s. Around a hundred dwellings on the first and roughly 125 on the second, the later one near the railway station. These are the most straightforward swaps in the village: sensible boiler positions, accessible pipework, flues that terminate where you would want them to.
Old Knebworth itself. The medieval core around the Church of St Mary and St Thomas, parts of which date to around 1120, with Knebworth House and its Grade II* listed gardens beyond. Solid wall construction, thick chimney breasts, and heat loss no boiler will fix on its own. Sizing to the actual fabric matters far more than the brochure output figure.
